Managing Effective Organizations & Programs

This workshop has been designed to provide both new and seasoned Executive Directors and Program Directors with crucial information to run effective and well-managed programs. Fundraising/Development staff will also benefit from the afternoon session.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss legal, financial, and contract management issues with relevant professionals, develop new skills to increase the effectiveness of their programs, and strengthen their fundraising capabilities and meet fundraising match requirements.

This workshop was presented under contract with the NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal.

Training Design:
In meeting(s) with your executive director and board chair, NPC staff will design the training to meet the specific needs of your board
of directors. If you are not sure where to begin, let NPC staff assist you in identifying your training needs. The initial consultation is
free of charge to everyone.

Length of Training:
Training can be designed to meet the needs and time schedule of your organization. Coalition staff can design a one time training
comprised of a short or all day workshop or a training program comprised of a series of workshops conducted over varying periods of
time. Some topics can not be adequately addressed in a short, one-time training.

Follow-up:
After the training, Coalition staff will contact your organization's representative to ensure that the training you received has improved
the functioning of the board of directors and what possible next steps in board development your organization would like to take.

Fees and Third Party Payment:
Through contracts with the Division of Housing and Community Renewal and H.U.D., the Neighborhood Preservation Coalition is able to provide some training to NPCs and CHDO's free of charge. Most of the training provided by the Coalition is conducted under these contracts. However, there are limits on the number of hours we can provide to each group. Please contact NPC staff to learn what is available for your organization.

Without these subsidies, the Coalition staff charge by the hour to design, deliver, and follow-up on board training. Initial consultation meeting is free of charge.
