Members & Friends:

As was reported last week, the NYS Legislature and Gov. Paterson reached agreement on a Deficit Reduction Plan for the current year’s state budget.  And, as was also stated, the figures given were subject to change following final agreement.  As expected, those reported figures have changed!  The new payment schedule for the January drawdown on your NPP and RPP contracts is as follows:

January drawdown for NPCs will be for $33,285 per group in good standing, a reduction of $4,316.
January drawdown for RPCs will be for $33,387 per group in good standing, a reduction of $3,644.
TA contract amounts for each Coalition will be reduced by $9,375 each.

As I have stated recently, I believe the current fiscal condition of our state is dismal and NPCs and RPCs should be prepared to face severe cuts to the housing programs in the 2010-2011 state budget.  As I leave the Coalition in a few short days, I must impress on each and every one of you how important it will be to make your voices heard and your presence known in as much advocacy as you can to be sure your programs are adequately funded!  Your survival depends on it.

If you do nothing else, make sure you attend the Coalition’s Legislative Action Day on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, in Hearing Room A of the Legislative Office Building, Albany.  Your participation is vital in making sure ALL legislators understand the value of the work you do in your community and your neighborhoods.

Best Wishes To All,
Joe
