Community Food and Nutrition Program

For improving the overall health and nutritional well-being of individuals through improved preventive health care and promotion of personal responsibility. The DHHS encourages the approach to health promotion and nutritional responsibility with personal messages aimed at families and communities, in various settings and environments in which individuals and groups can most effectively be reached. The DHHS is specifically interested in improving the health and nutrition status of low-income persons through improved access to healthy nutritious foods or by other means. The DHHS encourages community efforts to improve the coordination and integration of health and social services for all low-income families, and to identify opportunities for collaborating with other programs and services for this population.
