Local Community Development Departments

New York City Albany Buffalo Rochester Syracuse

City and county governments administer various housing and community development funding programs. Although some of these programs are common to most all municipalities (i.e. Community Development Block Grants) most local governments also make available a number of other programs to assist nonprofits to build affordable housing and provide other community development services. Each municipality's Consolidated Plan will provide information on their housing strategies.

These programs are most often adminstered by the Community Development Department, although the name of this department may vary. Below is a list of departments that administer housing and community development programs for selected localities. If your locality is not listed here, go to Local and State Government Agencies on the Web.
